The cheesy singers in Il Divo have won the hearts of many women. Their success started with “American Idol”.
- It has gone so fast since the first day we became a group, says singer David Miller.
Il Divo have become really famous in just three years. At the moment they are on a successful tour around the world. Last week they visited Sweden for a gig at the Globe. The success started in a commercial way - through “Idol”. The judge on American Idol Simon Cowell looked everywhere for singers that would fit in the band. An “Idol” audition was made.
- Carlos was found first, then Urs, then me and Sébastien, says David Miller, who has had a successful opera career.
In spite of their big success the members of the band are quite unknown.
- We are the most successful, unknown band in the world. I can walk around in Paris and London without being recognized, says Sébastien Izambard.
But they have many women swooning after them. They believe that their looks have helped them to a certain degree.
- Of course it helps. But the most important thing is the passion for the music, says Sébastien
David Miller means that he became handsome when he became a member of Il divo.
- When I started singing in Il Divo I became “Mr Good Looking Guy” straight away. But I haven’t changed at all. I believe that people think that your career changes you, he says.
